  1. That sort of promise is exactly what undid Lucas with the prequels.

I'm not saying that this looks bad -- I do want to see it -- but I have a sneaking suspicion that Tsui Hark now believes all that stuff about being the Chinese Lucas and is now repeating the guy's same mistakes.

  2. Tsui Hark needs a hit, it's been a long time.

  3. I'm really looking forward to this and praying for it to be good. It looks like Hark is relying a bit too much on CGI. And I despise CGI.

Hark's 2008 film , Missing, was almost a winner. The first hour was just awesome. The last hour was an embarrasing letdown. All About Women was so-so as well.

  4. Wow, that's the first positive thing I've heard about Missing, seriously. Everyone seemed to be just trashing it. I might have open my DVD now.

I liked Seven Swords a bit once I gave up hoping it was going to be what I wanted it to be and just enjoyed it for what it is. Or something.

  5. I might have mentioned this elsewhere, but I still haven't unwrapped my copy of Seven Swords yet. :D

CGI should support the storytelling, not become the raison d'etre, imho. I still recall falling asleep watching one of the Star Wars prequels during one of the action scenes :D

  6. I did enjoy "All About Women", but I agree; Tsui Hark hasn't made a good big blockbuster in quite some time. (I've not seen "Seven Swords" yet either!) :)
