ReplyDeleteThey didn't come close. Somehow Gao Ting-Ting became Carina Lau (?!?!) from one picture to the next. Some U.S. newspapers picked it up from Getty Images--that is probably where that particular--and particularly egregious--error came from.
The Hollywood equivalent might be identifying Jessica Biel as Jennifer Aniston. In France it could be identifying Ludivine Sagnier as Emmanuelle Béart.
Not long ago Zimbio ran a picture of some producer and Kylie Minogue--she was identified as "and guest", so they are quite ecumenical in their errors.

ReplyDeleteI think they missed mistook festival director Marco Mueller for Gabriele Salvatores in the John Woo Lifetime Achievement gallery, too, though that one's a bit more understandable, if illogical. I wonder, who does these IDs for them?
