Hong Kong-action fans will find a measure of reward if insufficient excitement in the Buddhist-flavored thriller "Punished."

It is said that Jet Li, who has once studied the Yang style Tai Chi, will play the role of Yang Luchan in the movie of "Tai Chi" produced by Huayi Bros. Media Group.

Lin plays a young survivor in "The Sun", which tells the story of a couple seeking hope after losing their daughter during the Sichuan earthquake.
The boy's story made headlines, and brought him nationwide attention. He was chosen to lead the Chinese team with Yao Ming at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics.
He also played a transvestite in Director Feng Xiaogang's blockbuster "If You Are the One," which impressed many moviegoers.
As a Sino-American co-production, the film is directed by American director Gil Kofman and also stars Ady Ang, Yao Lu, Gao Xin and Chun-tsan An.

Lau also took the unusual step of letting Shu [Qi] make an early edit of the movie so he could structure the story from a woman's perspective. The veteran Taiwanese actress is now eyeing a directorial debut, so Lau thought the editing task was a good learning experience for her and was pleased with her effort.
"She is not just an actress any more. She knows how to analyze camera angles, the score. She knows how to analyze cinema," Lau said.

Lau said: "My visuals are typically very powerful. The rhythm is fast. The cuts are fast. This time I took a completely different approach. There are many lengthy shots."
Chinese champion diver Tian Liang has won glowing reviews from a prominent Hong Kong director as the two-time Olympic gold medalist transitions from elite athlete to entertainer.
Tian, the men's 10-meter platform champion at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and synchronized platform champion four years later in Athens, plays an autistic young man who marries a mute woman in Andrew Lau's upcoming Chinese-language romance "A Beautiful Life."

A Beautiful Life's Andrew Lau, Shu Qi and Liu Ye appeared at a charity event at Grand Century Plaza along with Charles K Kao, "godfather of fiber optics" and Nobel Prize winner. Shu Qi displayed her calligraphy with the new Chinese title for A Beautiful Life, "Won't Leave You Alone". It took her an hour to write. A Beautiful Life opens May 20.

The reissue of the original Chinese Ghost Story which earlier was slated to open on the 10th has reportedly extended its run from 20 to 30 days. It will run head to head against the new Wilson Yip version which will open on the 22nd. (Sina)

Qin Lan was caught practicing her fencing for Lu Chuan's The Last Supper, based on the Banquet at Hongmen. Her role in the film has not been announced. Earlier it had been leaked that Qin Lan played the Empress but this has been denied.
