9.10.2012 [Roast Pork Sliced From A Rusty Cleaver] (飲水思源)

TimeOutHK: Lo Chi-leung interview
Perhaps better known for his scary flicks and modern thrillers, director Lo Chi-leung is now playing detective for the excellent The Bullet Vanishes.
Liu Kai-Chi

Simplistic drama of a young female "rebel" fails to convince on a dramatic level.

FBA: Lethal Hostage review
Manipulative but gripping crime rondo set in the southern drug trade, with a fine cast.

  1. I just saw The Bullet Vanishes this weekend. It's pretty good (despite all the meaningless slow motion and sweeping camera work found in most movies these days).

The final plot twist would have been better if it had been foreshadowed it a bit.

But overall, a nice looking and well-acted picture.

Surprised that I was able to see it before it opened in HK. Times have changed!

  2. I was surprised how litte Yang Mi was in it. Though, I read her love scene got edited.

I could stand to see LCW come back in another installment (as well as Jiang Yiyan!) if Law Chi-Leung decided to make it into a series. Yumiko Cheng's forensic doctor is worth extending too.

  3. Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing Lau Ching Wan and Jiang Yiyan playing a husband-and-wife detective team.
