"In a traffic jam...love can be this romantic"

Summary: A film poised to resonate with Beijingers, this Chinese film is set in a fictitious city where people languish in their cars during heavy traffic. It offers something for everyone, with love, action, fantasy, suspense and black humor in a poignant story of desolation. (GlobalTimes)

(Oct.8) Lover Never Dies (aka Blocked) held a press conference for the premiere in Hangzhou. The urban action-comdedy film opens nationwide on Oct.14. Recently, it was feared that the film's release would be delayed because of a controversy surrounding a couple of the cast members. Two of the actors, husband and wife, Sun Haiying and Lv Luping attracted much attention and boycott threats for making anti-gay remarks earlier this year.

(Aug.30) Photos from a press conference in Beijing for Blocked (lit. Traffic Jam), a collection of stories with action, comedy, fantasy, suspense and black humor. Film opens in China on Oct. 14. Interestingly, all of the characters names are names of classic films, e.g., Francis Ng's is Rashomon.

Lau said he was barely spending any time in Hong Kong these days, instead busy belting out his hits for mainland fans and capitalizing on his stardom among entertainment-hungry Chinese audiences that accounted for a total box office of $1.55 billion last year. Lau has been the front man for most Chinese blockbusters in recent years, most recently a remake of the kung fu classic "Shaolin" and the fantasy-mystery "Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame."
Ann Hui is one of the local directors who has sort of fallen by the wayside amid the rise of big-budget Chinese productions. She excels in Hong Kong-set family and domestic dramas that win critical acclaim, but struggles to find viewers on the mainland.
