Chapman To ill

Hong Kong media reports that Chapman To has been diagnosed with Miller Fisher Syndrome and has stopped all work to recuperate from home. In a telephone interview, Chapman said that doctors have sent his blood sample to a US laboratory to diagnose the severity. A recovery period of two weeks to six months is estimated. Although potentially fatal, Chapman was optimistic and expects to recover. (Sina)


US financial regulator, the Securities and Exchange Commission has made preliminary enquiries into whether Hollywood studios have been involved in bribery in China.

CRI: Aaron Kwok Promotes "Cold War" in Beijing
"Cold War" is a crime-thriller which tells an interlinked story involving the police, undercover cops and mindless thugs. The storyline is incredibly broad but also very elaborate, covering the entire Hong Kong Police force.

Angelababy promotes "The First Time" in Beijing. American-born singer Cindy Yen and Angelababy sing a duet in the film. Angelababy plays a young girl with a congenital disease who is in a romance with Mark Chao. A June 8 release is scheduled.

FBA: Huayi boards Showbox's Mr Go
The Showbox-backed Mr Go is the story of a Chinese girl and her baseball playing gorilla, who is recruited to play in the professional leagues in Korea. It features young Chinese actress Josie XU (Xu Jiao), who started her career in CJ7 (2008) and recently headlined in Starry Starry Night.

A courtroom drama, Christmas Rose stars Aaron Kwok and Xia Yu as lawyers fighting over the fate of a victim portrayed by Gwei Lun-mei. 
It was also accidentally leaked that Andy Lau will make an appearance in the film.  (Sina)

FBA: Anticipated films lock China dates
Wong Kar-Wai's martial arts drama The Grandmasters will open on 18 Dec.

Jackie Chan, along with other cast members, will attend the Cannes International Film Festival this May.

He attributed this to film investors' aversion to risk and the lack of perseverance among younger filmmakers and artistes.
"This gap in the Hong Kong film industry is very obvious both in front of [the camera] and behind the scenes."


Miriam Yeung, said, "I am about to give birth, and this will be my last movie before I do so. Of course it's better to go to the movies than staring at the monitor at home.
