TimeOutHK: Gwei Lun-mei interview
In the decade since she stole the audience’s heart as a teenager in Blue Gate Crossing, Gwei Lun-mei has accumulated an uncharacteristically versatile body of work that ranges from arthouse sensations to action thrillers.
Stephen Fung's much-awaited steampunk kung-fu actioner showcases stars Tony Leung Ka-fai, Eddie Peng and Shu Qi.
What in the heck is steampunk, anyway? Help me Urban Dictionary, you're my only hope!

Robust opening in China followed by a U.S. bow proves demand for cerebral Asian genre fare exists.

Looking forward to seeing Vulgaria!

And thanks for the Gwei Lun-mei interview. I saw GF*BF when I was in Taipei. It's pretty good, although I wish the story had just focused on their experiences as students during the martial-law era. Interesting to read her comments about not even being able to imagine what it was like then. Wasn't too long ago! But when you are in Taipei nowadays, it is a little hard to believe it was so different just 25 years ago. I guess that's even more true for China.

I thought it was a really good interview. And I imagine the same could be said about South Korea's martial law era.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Vulgaria appearing here.

I had the chance, but missed GF*BF! The local China Lion outlet here had it, but I couldn't go the first week; on the second week, they only had 10:30pm screenings! Grrrr! Learning my lesson, I went to The Bullet Vanishes on Saturday - 1st week. :D Jiang Yiyan looks positively luminous, too. <3!

p.s. Watched Love in Space recently (finally) and really enjoyed it. ;p

pps. Welcome back !

Vulgaria opens Sept. 28 in the US. Not sure which US outlets it will make it to, though. Can't wait!

You can bet I'll be watching the China Lion links closely.

I noticed that, 2nd week, The Bullet Vanhishes has only one 3:15 screening at my local 18-plex !!! 8/
