THR: China Bars Crime, Spies from TV Ahead of Party Birthday [and Tang Wei, it seems]
China has banned TV shows about crime, espionage and romance in the run up to the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party on July 1, local media reported on Friday.

Founding of a Party director Huang Jianxin denied the rumours that Tang Wei's scenes have been deleted. On the official website, Tang Wei is still on one of the trailers, plus the NG trailer. Also, Tang Wei is still listed sixth on the cast list. It is reported that the family of Tang Wei's character, Tao Yi, Mao's first love, objected to having Tang Wei portray her. (Sina)

The story, dubbed a "live action fairytale for adults," follows a young woman (Jiang Yiyan) who becomes a butterfly in exchange for the recovery of her sick fiancé, a biologist played by Chen Kun, who later gets involved in a love triangle.

At the end of the film, Zhang soaked herself in cold water, while she was naked to bring down the fever of her husband. She said she felt no hesitation being naked, saying, "I will do the same thing for my husband too. It's not about sex. I can do anything for the movie."

Feng Xiaogang's melodrama Aftershock won the top prize last night at Udine's Festival of Far East Film.

Last week, Chen returned to Chinese mainland for his first concert in three years, at Chengdu's Zebra Festival, to promote new hip-hop album Confusion. The concert saw 100,000 fans screaming and waving posters, and extra security had to be called to maintain order. It seemed to set the seal on his post-scandal comeback.
