Amnesty International Hong Kong will hold a charity gala premiere of The Lady on February 3, with appearances by leading actress Michelle Yeoh Choo Kheng and director Luc Besson.

The film is based on the life of Myanmar democracy icon and Nobel Peace laureate Aung San Suu Kyi, who is also Amnesty International's "ambassador of conscience".

The film has been described as a love story set against a background of political turmoil, with Suu Kyi's late British husband, the academic and writer Michael Aris, played by David Thewlis.

The film's charity premiere will be screened at The Grand Cinema in the Elements mall in Kowloon.

Ticket prices range from HK$300 to HK$1,000 with all proceeds going to the AIHK Human Rights Education Charitable Trust to support its human rights education programme. SCMP
