Gordon Chan's The Four Marshals - Media Set Visit Photos

Although The Four Marshals (aka Four Detective Guards) looks like a typical costume martial arts film, there seems to be a strong fantasy aspect to the film.

Gordon Chan Ready For Four Marshals

Gordon Chan's adaptation of Wen Jui's martial arts novel Four Marshals will begin shooting in August. A popular ATV series was made in the 1980's. Chan plans something new for this version, telling the origins and background of the characters along with a new interpretation of the story. He admitted that adapting a popular novel is difficult. Classic fiction cannot be surpassed, said Chan, but the film is an independent view and extension of the novel, like creating new life. Comparisons between film and novel are inevitable, a thankless task, and he expects he will receive criticisms.
