Huayi Brothers - Plan H (High Hope) for 2011

Huayi Brothers held a press conference in Beijing yesterday to announce their film projects for 2011.

Highlights:

Stephen Fung will direct the Jet Li, Chen Kuo-Fu film, tentatively titled, Tai Chi. Stephen Chow also has a rival version of Tai Chi in the planning stages. Fung is newly signed into the Huayi Brothers stable of artists. Another 'wind', Feng Xiaogang had been earlier rumoured to be the director. Instead, Feng hinted his next film will be a decade-old project set in the plains of Henan during wartime the Great Famine in 1942.

Zhou Xun and Chen Kun are expected to be returning for the sequel to The Painted Skin directed by Wuershan (The Butcher, The Chef and The Swordsman). Love in Space directed by Wing Shya and Tony Chen had been announced earlier in the week.

Stanley Tong will produce Jackie Chan's Zodiac, Ronny Yu's version of the Yang Family Saga for Raymond Wong anticipates the possibility of a stellar cast of HB actors, the 'Seven Wolves',  that includes Zhang Hanyu, Deng Chao, Duan Yihong, Wang Baoqiang, Li Chen and Chen Sicheng.

Edmond Pang Ho-Cheung will be making 'Spoiled Women, Best Life' adapted from an original novel. Monga director Doze Niu is making Love for HB in a coproduction starring Zhou Xun. Tom Lin Shuyu (Winds of September) will shoot a film to be produced by Chen Kuo-Fu.
