Wai Chi-Keung joined Hong Kong's national football team at 18 after graduating from high school. He played for South China AA and later Seiko Hong Kong and was nicknamed "Asia's No.1 Striker".
Wan was part of the Hong Kong team that beat the Beijing team in the Asian qualifiers for the 1986 World Cup -- angry Beijing soccer fans staged a post-match riot in what is now known as the "5.19 incident."

Golden goals by 'Asia's No.1 Striker' Wan Chi-Keung

Wan began his professional career as a striker and was a key player in the Hong Kong team for over a decade during the 1970s and 80s. He was a member of the Hong Kong teams which played in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers in 1977 and 1985, defeating Singapore and China respectively.
