With the ending of the film shows Bruce Lee leaving Hong Kong by boat planting the seed for a possible sequel, director Raymond Yip said that from the bottom of his heart he wants to make a sequel but it depends on the audience reception. Also, Bruce Lee's image rights belongs to different people and institutions so a sequel might encounter copyright restrictions. Tony Leung Ka-Fai, who plays Bruce's father, said of the current film, 95 percent of the film is true. Manfred Wong said that the order of some incidents was changed to suit the film's rhythm.
