Sun Haiying plays a sympathetic Japanese officer who loves Chinese culture in Peony Legend (lit. Shelling Under Heaven). Recently, Sun Haiying and wife, Lu Liping, applied for residency permit to live on the disputed Daiyu Islands. The three-part story takes place during the Tang Dynasty, the Sino-Japanese War and modern times. Opening April 2.
