Sad news about Jia Hongsheng. I enjoyed Suzhou River before I ever got heavily into Chinese films -- kind of my first non-Zhang Yimou exposure, actually.

Quitting was very depressing and I wonder now how much of that was real depression on Jia Hongsheng's part given today's sad news?

Picked up cheap, used copy of Quitting recently and watched it last night.

Despite it's depressing story, it makes a great tribute to a lost young talent. Sad. The pacing dragged a bit in the middle but it's a really nice piece of work from Zhang Yang, another young talent.

Physically, Jia Hongsheng kept reminding me of Peter Fonda!

I hope Zhang Yang's recently released Driverless gets a subbed DVD treatment.
